Champions of 1922. Pictured here Gene Sarazen and the cup he won making him open golf champion of the United States with a score of 288. Gene Sarazen, the \"Squire\", was one of the youngest players ever to win the U.S. Open. He won two majors in 1922, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. Gene was the first player ever to win the Career Grand Slam and was selected for six Ryder Cup teams between 1927 and 1937.
