Chien-Ming Wang came out of nowhere just when the Yankees needed him most. The 2005 season looked to be a bust as one starter after another fell victim to injury. But the Bombers dipped into their minor league pool and called Wang up to the show and the Taiwanese righty put on a show overcoming an injury of his own to go 8-5 with a 4.02 ERA and 47 strikeouts. Wang pitched even better in 2006 and 2007 going 19-6 with a 3.63 ERA and 76 strikeouts as the Yanks won the AL East. Wang followed with another fantastic 2007 campaign going 19-7 with a 3.70 ERA and 105 strikeouts. Wang got off to his typical strong start in 2008 but an injury ended his season pre-maturely after posting an 8-2 record.
